The Commercial Aviation Mystique

When we hear “commercial aviation” most people instinctively think of airline operations. With over 50,000 airline pilots in the United States, it’s not surprising. But the commercial airline lake is much deeper than just scheduled airlines. Look up in the sky, and there’s a good chance you’ll see someone engaged in commercial aviation totally unrelated to airline flying.

There’s crop-dusting (aerial agriculture), flight instructing, fire-spotting, fire-fighting, airplane ferrying, combat flying, civilian flying in combat zones, test flying, charitable operations flying, aerobatic flying, air-show flying, warbird flying, air racing and a host of other careers.

And we’re going to try to cover them all in upcoming interviews with fascinating, inspiring people you’ll be thrilled to listen to.
