Bruce Mayes started flying as a teenager, and continued his flying first in the Army and then in the Coast Guard, where he flew both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.After the service, he was hired by Aloha Airlines, where he rose to Captain on the B737 until the airline went out of business.
